On October 29, 2020, the Center for Legal Research and Analysis (CLRA) together with the Institute for Human Rights (IHR) held the Fourth Meeting of the Advisory Working Group.
The advisory working group consists of civil associations that work in the field of justice within the project “Joint commitment for better achievements in the judiciary” financed by the EU and the British Embassy in Skopje.
At this meeting, the findings of the changes to the laws foreseen in the Justice Reform Strategy 2017-2022 were discussed, where each of the associations follows several laws and presents the current changes. In particular, several laws were reviewed, i.e. The Law on Courts, the Law on the Execution of Sanctions, the Law on Civil Procedure, the Law on Mediation as well as the Law on Administrative Procedure.
At these meetings, current issues that arise in between the meetings are always discussed. Thus, at this fourth meeting, the participants exchanged opinions about the possibility of online trials and some of them highlighted their views regarding the benefits and consequences of holding hearings in this way.
Present at the meeting were representatives from the Center for Change Management, the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights, the Association for Criminal Law and Criminology, the Coalition for a Fair Trial, MYLA, the Association of Judicial Administration and the Institute for European Policy.
This project is implemented by the Center for Legal Research and Analysis (CPIA) as a co-applicant and the Institute for Human Rights (IHR) as an applicant, and is supported by the EU and the British Embassy in Skopje.
