Bridging Gender Bias in Judiciary

About the Project

“Bridging Gender Bias in Judiciary” is a project implemented by the Center for Legal Research and Analysis and financially supported by the British Embassy, runs from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. This project aims to address gender bias and promote gender equality within North Macedonia’s judiciary system. By collaborating with key stakeholders, including the Judicial Council, Supreme Court, Constitutional Court, Basic courts, Appellate courts, Administrative Court & High Administrative Court, Academy of Judges and Public Prosecutors, Public Prosecutor’s Office, Council of Public Prosecutors, Parliament: Commission for Equal Opportunities, and civil society organizations, the project seeks to foster a fair and equitable legal system through research, policy development, and awareness initiatives.

Key Components and Outcomes:

  • Baseline Study and Action Plan: Conduct a systematic review and gather qualitative and quantitative data to create a baseline study and action plan addressing gender bias.
  • Code of Conduct and Legislative Amendments: Develop a Code of Conduct on Gender Equality and draft legislative amendments to promote gender equality within the judiciary.
  • Communications Strategy: Raise awareness through social media campaigns, public forums, and webinars to highlight the importance of gender equality in the legal system.
