PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT THROUGH THE PRISM OF THE PRACTICE OF THE EUROPEAN COURT OF HUMAN RIGHTS – GOOD AND BAD PRACTICES IN THE REPUBLIC OF NORTH MACEDONIA

Within the framework of the project “Project for good management of the environment”, the Center for Legal Research and Analysis prepared the analysis “Protection of the environment through the prism of the practice of the European Court of Human Rights – good and bad practices in the Republic of North Macedonia”.

The analysis consists of three parts:

The first part contains a summary of the principles underlying the protection of the environment, which derive from the practice of the ECHR. The second part of the analysis focuses on the positive and negative domestic practice where the efforts of competent institutions invested in environmental protection are sometimes successful but often insufficient, uncoordinated and ineffective. The third part indicates the next steps that should be taken to overcome the shortcomings and gaps that represent an obstacle to a healthy and sustainable environment.
