On October 17, 2024, the Center for Legal Research and Analysis and the Macedonian Young Lawyers Association held a thematic workshop on “The role of the judiciary and the effectiveness of judicial protection of the right to privacy on social networks”. Introductory speeches were given by Bojana Bozinovska Siljanovska, President of the Macedonian Young Lawyers Association and Milena Josifovska, from the Center for Legal Research and Analysis.
At the workshop, two public policy documents were presented on the following topics: “The role of the judiciary and the public prosecution in the system of personal data protection and the right to privacy” – presented by Igor Kuzevski and “Protection of privacy and personal data on social networks and on internet pages” – presented by Arben Gudachi and Martina Drangovska-Martinova.
The aim of the workshop was to harmonize conclusions and recommendations for the creation of public policies that will contribute to better protection of the right to privacy as well as the unification of judicial institutions, relevant ministries, the Agency for the Protection of Personal Data and civil society organizations. The presentations were followed by a wide debate focused on improving public policies regarding the role of the judiciary in effective protection of the right to privacy in the digital space, as well as challenges regarding the most common violations of the right to privacy on social networks.
Within the framework of the workshop, specific recommendations were given for the promotion of public policies for each of the areas that will serve for the formation of a final document for public policies.
