The Center for Legal Research and Analysis organized a round table with representatives of the justice sector for presentation and discussion of the Matrix for measuring the performance of the judiciary.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Within the program \u201cImproving the quality of justice in Macedonia\u201d supported by the British Embassy Skopje, the CLRA organized a round table with representatives from the judiciary on the topic \u201cPresentation and discussion of the draft Matrix for measuring the performance of the judiciary\u201d. The event took place at the Marriott hotel in Skopje on the 14th<\/sup> of March 2017.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

The event brought together judges from all levels of the judiciary in Macedonia, representatives from the Ministry of Justice, Judicial Council and Macedonia State Attorney\u2019s Office as well as lawyers, prosecutors, enforcement agents and notaries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

The draft Matrix that was prepared through a long and inclusive process in the past 3 years was presented at the round table. Its preparation included number of national and international experts, lawyers, statisticians and methodologists. Also, on the working meetings for the preparation of the indicators of the Matrix and the methodology of its implementation, representatives from the Ministry of Justice and Judicial Council were present. The contributed to the development of the Matrix with their constructive notes and comments.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

At the beginning of the event, the areas that are covered by the Matrix, together with the target groups and the indicators that will be the indicative of the situation in the judiciary were briefly presented, and afterwards they were opened for discussion and comments by the present representatives, so their views can be incorporated in the Matrix.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

In the second part, the methodology that will be used to implement the Matrix was presented, as well as the sample and method of processing the data and results. The participants provided constructive comments of the most appropriate way of delivering the questionnaires and views on the importance of the impartiality in this process.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Finally, the participants discussed the need for this kind of inclusive and objective measurement of performance of the judiciary as a starting point especially in a period in which a new strategy for the judiciary is being adopted. Some of the recommendation led to the need of further measurement of this type for lawyers and prosecutors in order to get the full picture of the situation in the judiciary.  <\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
