On the 13th of July 2015, at the EU Info Center in Skopje, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Macedonia, Adnan Jashari and British Ambassador Charles Garrett signed a Memorandum of cooperation in order to improve the legal system in Macedonia.As part of the Memorandum are two projects for the judicial system in Republic of Macedonia that are implemented by the Center for Legal Research and Analysis and supported by the British Embassy Skopje; \u201cDevelopment of monitoring indicators for the justice sector performance\u201d<\/a> <\/em>and \u201cSupporting the establishment of unified court practice in the Macedonian legal system\u201d<\/a>. <\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

The purpose of first project is developing a relevant and comprehensive matrix of indicators to monitor the progress of the judicial reform in the country. The second project will enable the creation of conditions for supporting the establishment of a unified court practice and will strengthen the role of the court practice in the Macedonian legal system with the EU standards.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Within these two projects there will be inclusion of the stakeholders and actors in the justice system with intent to find better solutions for the efficiency of justice and effective justice. Namely, as parties concerned in the implementation of the projects are the Supreme Court, the presidents of the courts, the Judicial Council, Council of Public Prosecutors, court administration, lawyers, notaries, bailiffs, prosecutors and the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Lidija Stojkova Zafriovska, the president of the Center for legal research and analysis, within her speech stressed that the purpose of the projects is to achieve a comprehensive analysis of the jurisprudence, its harmonization and unification and strengthening the capacity of the judiciary. She also added that a comparative study on key principles and guidelines in the process of judicial reforms will be made.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\u201cThe results of these projects will make it possible to assess the progress in the field of justice in light of several factors, but most importantly the quality, impartiality, integrity and independence\u201d, said Minister Jashari, who emphasized the importance of the project of unification of court practice which, as underlined by the Minister is not completely unified.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
