Action against additional taxes

In the period of , the Center for Legal Research and Analysis has began implementing the project “Action against additional taxes”.

The main identified problem of the project was the obligation to register a value added tax by citizens of the Republic of Macedonia whose turnover exceeds the amount of 1,000,000 (one million) denars during the one calendar year in accordance with the Value Added Tax Act.

The project aimed to give a direct contribution to reducing the financial implications of the work of the civil sector through a comprehensive assessment of the impact of regulations (RIA) that directly affect the normal functioning and sustainability of the CSO`s. The project has three specific objectives:

1.  Determination of the negative aspects and consequences of the application of the contradictory legislation as well as its (un)compliance with the best practices and regulations of the European Union;

2.  Establishment of concrete recommendations and applicative solutions for facilitating the financial operation of civil organizations in the engagement of human resources in the realization of their activities;

3.  Increasing the public awareness of the unfavorable implications of the current legislation and the need for civil activism to change it.

The project is supported by the Institute for Democracy “Societas Civilis” Skopje, within the project “Assessing the impact of shadow regulation: Promoting policy-making based on evidence” funded by the European Union.
