Trainings on the topic: PROTECTION AGAINST DISCRIMINATION AND EQUAL TREATMENT OF ROMA IN CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS

The Center for Legal Research and Analysis and the Association of Roma Lawyers from Skopje in cooperation with the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors are organizing 3 one-day trainings (2 basic and 1 advanced) in the premises of the Academy.

The trainings are conducted by the international expert, prof. Dr. Ivana Krstic from the Faculty of Law in Belgrade. The trainings аре tailored and specifically designed for judges and public prosecutors, for non-discrimination and fair treatment for Roma population under investigation or in court proceedings.

The aim of the trainings is to increase the sensitivity among relevant court actors for equal and fair treatment of Roma in judicial and other proceedings based on the principles of non-discrimination.

The first two one-day trainings with a group of 50 judges and public prosecutors were held on 8th and 9th March 2018 on the topic: Protection against discrimination and equal treatment of Roma in pre-criminal and criminal proceedings`, while on April 26, 2018 at the Academy for judges and public prosecutors, advanced training will be held with a group of 25 to 30 participants (judges and public prosecutors) on the topic: “Discrimination on grounds of race and ethnicity, hate speech and hate crime with a special focus on cases towards the Roma “.The trainings are part of the project “Equality in Judiciary, Security in Life”.
