THE LAST TRAINING ON THE TOPIC ,,THE ROLE AND NECESSARY SKILLS OF THE TUTORS OF NEWLY ELECTED AND PROMOTED JUDGES” HELD IN COLLABORATION WITH AJPP

On November 13, 2023, the Center for Legal Research and Analysis in cooperation with the Academy of Judges and Public Prosecutors, within the project ,,Supporting quality and accountability in the Macedonian judicial sector”, held the last training from the series of trainings on the topic, ,,The role and necessary skills of the tutors of newly elected and promoted judges”. This time the training was intended for the students of the VII generation in the AJPP in order for them to be familiar with the concept of tutoring and the opportunities it offers, the training was held in the premises of AJPP.

The training started with a short presentation, recommendations and questions by judge Gjorgi Andonov and attorney Aleksandar Godzo, both as experienced lawyers in their field. After presentations by Andonov and Gojo, the now elected judges, former trainees of the Academy of Judges and Public Prosecutors presented themselves and shared their first impressions and experiences as newly elected judges.

As an already trained judge, his own presentation had judge Gjorgi Andonov, president of the Basic Court of Stip, who shared some of the comparative experiences and successful experiences from Europe. After judge Andonov’s presentation and a short discussion with the audience, judge Gabriela Gajdova from the Basic Court of Veles presented the very concept of a tutor, the role that a tutor would play in the development of newly elected and promoted judges, and she devoted part of her presentation to the necessary qualifications so that an experienced judge can become a tutor. Additionally, judge Biljana Kocevska from the Basic Criminal Court in Skopje emphasized the difference between mentoring and tutoring and the benefits that the second option can offer.

The training was an opportunity for the already trained judges to share their experiences with their younger colleagues, with the idea that they will take advantage of the knowledge and opportunities that such a program will offer.
