Within the project “Joint commitment for better achievements in the judiciary” financed by the European Union and co-financed by the British Embassy in Skopje, a special “Policy document on the transparency, accountability and effectiveness of the judiciary with a focus on the courts” was prepared and judicial administration”.
The policy document covers three chapters, of which the first chapter presents the relevant international framework of transparency, accountability and effectiveness of the judiciary with a focus on the work of judges and court administration. In this chapter, the regional, European standards built through the mechanisms of the Council of Europe are of primary importance. These mechanisms play a very significant role in ensuring the rule of law, as one of the three key pillars on which the Council of Europe system rests, along with democracy and human rights. Special topics are covered in this chapter, i.e. mechanisms for establishing standards for transparency, accountability and effectiveness of the judiciary as well as standards relevant to court administration.
In the second chapter, the national policies and legal framework for the transparency, accountability and effectiveness of the judiciary are discussed with a focus on the work of judges, their transparency in their work and the effectiveness of their work.
The third chapter of this document refers to the national policies and legal framework for transparency, accountability and effectiveness of the judiciary with a focus on the work of judicial administration.
This document aims to contribute to strengthening the transparency, accountability and effectiveness of the judiciary and judicial administration in the Republic of North Macedonia in terms of improving the work of judicial authorities and their services.
