Election of a member of the Commission for a member of the Judicial Council

Nikola Jovanovski from the Center for Legal Research and Analysis was elected for member of the Commission for election of a member of Judicial Council by the rank of the judges.

Pursuant to the call published for the organizations and foundations that are active in the area of rule of law and human rights, the Judicial Council of Republic of North Macedonia for election of a member by the rank of the judges that belong to the non-majority community in North Macedonia formed a commission for conducting election of members to the Council by the rank of the judges.

In accordance with article 14 of the Law on Judicial Council one member and deputy member are elected by the representatives of the organizations and foundations that have worked more than five years in the area of human rights and rule of law.

At the 327th session the Judicial Council adopted a decision to establish a Commission for election of a member to the Council by the rank of the judges as well as member of the organizations and foundations that work in the area of human rights and rule of law and they elected Nikola Jovanovski from the Center for Legal Research and Analysis and Ismail Kamberi from the European Policy Institute as a deputy member. Other members of the Commission are judge Isamedin Limani from the Supreme court of Republic of North Macedonia, who is also President of the Commission and judge Bekim Mehmedi from the Appellate Court Gostivar.

Due to expiration of the mandate of a member of the Judicial Council, the Commission conducted  an election process for a new member by the rank of the judges from the community which is over 20% of the population in North Macedonia. The representative of the Center for Legal Research and Analysis Nikola Jovanovski actively participated in the process of preparation and conduction of the election for the candidates judge Artan Limani and judge Hanif Zendeli.
