The training covered several aspects of the practical application of European standards in the field of environmental justice. Judge Mirjana Lazarova Trajkovska presented the case law of the European Court of Human Rights in cases related to environmental crime, with a focus on the Court’s approach to issues concerning the protection of the environment and human rights.
Prof. Tanja Karakamisheva Jovanovska, PhD, presented the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union in the field of environmental protection, with particular reference to relevant European legal standards and their significance for national legislation and its application. The training also addressed the concept of green victimology, presented by lawyer Zharko Hadzi Zafirov, with a focus on the position and protection of victims of environmental crime, as well as the specific challenges they face.
Through these thematic sessions, participants had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of European case law and discuss practical aspects of implementing environmental justice. The training concluded with key observations and a discussion addressing questions and practical dilemmas arising in this area.
