Training on the topic “THE ROLE AND NECESSARY SKILLS OF THE MENTORS OF NEWLY ELECTED AND PROMOTED JUDGES”

On June 9, 2023, the second training on the topic “The role and necessary skills of the mentors of newly elected and promoted judges” was held in the Skopje appellate area. The purpose of the training was to pass on the experiences of already trained mentors (judges) who participated in the training of tutors for newly elected and promoted judges, which was conducted by the Dutch judge and president of the court in Zwolle, the Netherlands Mr. Bert Mann and the specialist for the training of judges, Marina Naumovska – Milevska. This training was an opportunity for the already trained judges to share their experiences with other experienced judges from their appellate area, with the idea of applying it every time there is a new or promoted judge in the court.

The training was divided into two parts, during the first part, Judge Bisera Stefkovska Mitic from the Primary Civil Court in Skopje answered questions and talked about her initial challenges and expectations as a newly elected judge. The President of the Primary Criminal Court – Skopje, Ivan Jolev, shared his experiences, problems and expectations when there is newly elected judge in his court. Aleksandar Godzo spoke about the experiences he personally had as a lawyer in disputes before a newly elected, i.e. promoted judge.

In the second and final part of the training, in the capacity of already trained judges, the following had their presentations: Judge Ljubica Kolic from the Primary Civil Court – Skopje, Judge Natalija Doneva – Primary Civil Court and Judge Tanja Mileva from the Court of Appeal – Skopje. After the presentations, the present judges engaged in a debate and gave their comments and suggestions for achieving the goals of the training.

The training was provided within the project “Improving the quality and responsibility of the Macedonian judicial sector”, which is financially supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
